Mediation of The Square:

A Berkeley Mixed-use Project

This design begins with the landscape of the given site informing the overall form of the building; the site lines are quite literally cutting through a form that stems from a perfect square, within a square, creating this abrupt and unexpected cut in what may be considered a typical mansard roof. When tackling how to three-dimensionalize a roof pavilion, into a stack - I began by thickening and mirroring said roofs onto one another until they overlapped and almost touched.
